Senior Controls Engineer

Job Summary: In this position you have a strong technical background that plays a key role in supporting/leading the controls team through design, programming and implementation activities required to complete assigned projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design, configuration and programming of automation and controls systems using PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
  • Develop PLC code and HMI programs using Allen Bradley Studio5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens TIA Portal, and applicable programming software.
  • Provide detailed documentation throughout each project.
  • Manage and control design projects that result in a high quality and reliable product.
  • Complete controls designs and electrical schematics; specifying hardware and components.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems.
  • Inspect products and processes to identify areas of improvement.
  • Understand customer requirements and create design based on customer requirements
  • Maintain detailed documentation of design specifications, test results, and project progress, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and materials.
  • Prepare hardwired design sketch work on assigned projects.
  • Develop and implement design standards/modular hardwired designs.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience in a related field.
  • Programming all controls related devices, including but not restricted to: PLC & HMIs (Rockwell, Siemens)
  • Vision systems (Cognex and Keyence)
  • Strong instructional and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design and drafting software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
  • Ability to interpret and implement specifications
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
